Belinda,

Yes, I am absolutely positive that Dartagnan started
spraying AFTER the neuter.

I remember, because he was a birthday present from my
fiance on my 24th birthday. We were living in a rent
house at the time and kept Dartagnan a secret from the
landlord.

We moved AFTER the surgery and I can remember thinking
"Thank God!" Had Dartagnan started spraying while we
lived in the rent house we would have not only paid a
monthly deposit for him, but to actually have paid for
the spraying damages.

Funny how I ended up paying for the "damages" within
My house! Sigh.

Yes, Dartagnan was neutered at four months old. I lied
about his age (I said he was six months old) to the
veterinarian surgeon that way I was pretty much
guaranteed to have him altered before the "spraying"
habit set in. Funny, how that did not work either.

FYI: I use the same lie for my females; therefore,
ensuring that they NEVER experience their first "heat"
cycle. None of my girls have EVER gone into heat. At
least THAT went right!

I have done ALL of my other boys with the same "lie"
and they do NOT spray. Dartagnan is just funny that
way, I guess.

Yes, Christopher brought home a handful of yellow
tabby fur one (1) day coming home from work. He was no
more than three (3) weeks old. This was in the middle
of summer so Christopher rationalized that a pregnant
queen must have had a litter of kittens and the folks
that had the litter (or saw the queen and litter)
dumped them all on the side of the road.

We looked for the mother and other possible litter
mates, but found none. We did not even find dead
bodies.

When Dartagnan was first brought home he was still not
able to eat day cat food. I remember buying some and
showing it to him, but he never acted interested in
it. So, I bought some "Mother's Helper" milk
supplement instead and he was on that for the first
couple of weeks.

Yes, Dartagnan NEVER sprayed ONCE until AFTER the
operation.

Thanks for asking.

Lora,

I'm taking Fred in Saturday for a biopsy on a lump on
his neck.

I'm going to ask my vet a few questions. You're
positive Dartagnan didn't spray until after his
neuter, that could be a relavent thing so I want
to be sure?

I think you said he was 4 months old when he was
neutered, is that right?

You've had him since he was much younger so between
the time you got him and the 4 month neuter surgery he
never sprayed?

That's strange, I wonder if something done during
the neuter triggered his spraying, I'm going to ask
her if anything like that is possible.
