Sounds like a very effective drug, MaryChristine :) But all interesting info, including the Yahoo groups. Hope things are going well with you. I'm getting 3 more cats and a kitten today, pulled from the city - andn I'm going AHGGG, where am I going to put them? Oh well.

gee, i've been taking fluvoxamine for a couple of years (brand name,
Luvox).... and i haven't sprayed once. of course, i didn't spray BEFORE i
took it, either, so i'm not sure how helpful my experience is..... in other
words, it's a human antipressant, and i have no idea what studies if any
have been done in our feline friends. i DO know, however, that it's the only
medication of its kind that's had any positive effect on me, so i'm sure
that it's the same in cats--find a vet who will work with you, and try the
few things you haven't so far!

confinement to condo-cages, for as long as it takes (sometimes close to a
year!), works well with inappropriate elimination problems, but spraying
isn't exactly the same thing--and the incentive to keep one's own space
clean can be mooted by one's just spraying OUTSIDE said space...

if i really loved the cat and wanted to keep him, i guess i'd just find him
a bathroom of his own--or cover vertical surfaces with easy-to-clean plastic
sheeting.... (had to do the latter, actually, with a spayed female persian i
had years ago.) there are yahoo groups for "special needs" cats, too, who
might be willing to take him on as an only cat...
