Lisa,

Do you know if these new FeLV vaccine changes/updates
have been enforced as the new protocol a.k.a. standard
procedure according to the The American Veterinary
Medical Association (AVMV) or for any Board Certified
Veterinarian?

I was unaware that the "Modified Live" version of the
FeLV vaccine has been discontinued. (Which IS a good
decision, in my opinion.) Are ALL veterinarians now
strongly encouraged to administer only the "Killed"
FeLV vaccine? I hope so.

Back in 2002 when my Peeper was diagnosed with FeLV my
veterinarian that I still use today was administrating
the "Modified Live" version.

Gasp! I hope that does not imply that all of my
negatives were given this type of FeLV vaccine! I have
to check that out tomorrow! Oh no!

When was this new protocol enforced? Does anyone know?

Lisa, thank you for bring this to my attention! Much
appreciated!

Lora

Lora,

FeLV vaccinations do not come "MLV." Only the FIV
vacc now comes that way and possibly one other dog
vaccination.

That is why vets do not push the FIV vaccination
because it is actually know to cause more FIV than it
prevents.

FeLV vaccs USED to come that way, but they are not
manufactured like that any more. This is in efforts to
eliminate the virus and any vet who opps to use the
"old" vaccinations is doing so carelessly and probally
for $ reasons only. But there should not be any around
anymore though.
