Melissa,
Sorry to hear about your loss. We had no idea before the bleeing started that he was FeLv positive, all I knew was my baby was bleeding with no explaination. I am sorry to hear about Growler, I hope all goes well for him, it is hard for us parents to watch our babies go through hard times.

I think FeLV can manifest in many different ways, though some are more common than others. I lost Zest a few weeks ago to a heart murmur that developed after we had her spayed--she went without any warning, she went to sleep and just didn't wake. She was 7 months old.

One of my others from the same litter, Growler, is now having problems with her spine--she is in a lot of pain and her blood tests came back relatively normal (for an FeLV positive) and her x-ray was clear. There is no obvious source of the pain, but she's in enough pain that her skin crawls if you go near her back. The vet says he's seen this happen once before with a leuk cat, where the virus invaded the bone marrow and spine. In those cases there's not a lot that they can do.

I'm sorry to hear about your loss. I think any time bleeding is involved with a FeLV positive cat, it's a good idea to see the vet, just because of the anemia risk.

That is my story...my concern is I had never heard on FeLV taking a kitty life that fast and fierce....does anyone have any suggestions? By the way there is one other cat that has FeLV now and she is recieving Interferon every other week...all others and fine.

Thank you
