Cherie -
I recently lost a health kitten overnight myself. Endora was a little older, but I came home from work one day - - she had been fire that morning when I left - - and I found she had passed away while I was at work.
In discussions with different people (on and off this list) I have heard many stories of young kittens passing VERY quickly.
You will find this group to be a great source of information.
Sorry you had to be here, but WELCOME!

Hi there,I have just joined you group from a posting off of Be-Mi Kitties...Cat Chat, and I was curious about something. I had (6) furrbabies and on Jan 4th, 2005 I lost a kitten, Snowball, it was so unfair and fast but I am having a hard time accepting what the vet told me.Here is my story on Jan 2nd my son nd I came home from the store, and Snowball had a little blood coming from his mouth, I was concerned so I called my vet and she said, maybe a tooth do not worry she will come out on the 3rd at noon....OK no problem but, throughout Sunday his bleeding was slowly getting worse so I called the vet again, and she said it might be a needle or X-mas hook in his throat I should feel around and check, I did nothing, so know she would be out first hing instead of noon. In the middle of the night Sunday Snowball was sleeping with me (as usual) and I woke up to find blood dripping from his jowels. I do need to add he was eating, drinking and playing with the others the whole time, no physical sign of sickness, excepting sleeping a little more. Once again the vet was called and she came right away, he now had purple spots in his ears, a sign that he was not clotting and bleeding elsewhere. Still no idea of what we were dealing! ! with she took him iwth her and pumped him with Vitamin K to attempt to stop the bleeding while running coagulation tests. All the test came back fine, she then called and said she ran a Fe-luk test and his platelets came back very low and so did his white blood cell count, so he had the virus. Monday 7:30pm I was called by my vet and she said the bleeding had stopped (we thought from the Vitamin K) but she was going to bring him back to me on Tuesday Jan 4, 2005 I would just have to give him Vitamin K tablets and Interferon, I was upset but fine with it, I just wanted my baby back, she said it attacked his bone marrow and that is why he was bleeding so much. Then on Tuesday my vet called first thing and said he past in the night, I was devastated, still am. I have not even told my son yet, he still thinks Snowball is in the hospital with the vet...I am not strong enough yet. That is my story...my concern is I had never heard on FeLV taking a kitty life that fast and fierce....does anyone have any suggestions? By the way there is one other cat that has FeLV now and she is recieving Interferon every other week...all others and fine.Thank youCherie
