Dear Jill: How is Gary doing? I'm a bit behind in respoding to e-messages. I had my 11 year old stepdaughter here over the holidays and didn't have much chance to get to my computer. She was websurfing much of the time due to the beastly weather.
Anything you can do to boost immune function will be helpful. Along with a top quality natural diet, CoQ10 and l-Lysine can be beneficial. I recently had good luck in staving off a URI with two of my non-positives using a product called Oli-Vet (it contains olive leaf extract -- oleuropein, which has antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal properties as well as containing the antioxidants quercetin and rutin. Both kittys had runny eyes and were sneezing but after 3-4 days of supplementation were non-symptomatic and symptoms have not returned. I have also used the Oli-Vet in conjunction with Transfer Factor therapy with my FeLV+ kittys. The youngest one, who tested FeLV+ at the tender age of six weeks and was going to be PTS if I had not rescued him, was recently retested when he was neutered on Dec. 7th and, at 6 mos. of age, he is NO LONGER POSITIVE. The TF therapy was also instrumental in helping me nurse a kitten through Panleukopenia after the vet gave her little chance for survival without hospitalization. My other two positives, now 18 mos. old, are on a raw-based diet with extra C, TF and Oli-Vet supplementation and remain stable and relatively non-symptomatic with only mild gingivitis so far. I hope that Gary is doing better now. Sincerely, Sally in San Jose
