Hi. Hard to say. He came upstairs for a while, which he had not done for a
few days, but has been sleeping for hours. He ate a very small amount of cat
food (just a few bites) and less sour cream (maybe 10 fingerfuls today) but
cleaned out two half-bowls of liver shake. He is getting that very angular
look like his muscles are very soft and his skin and whatever fat is left on
him are just hanging on his bones. While he still has enough weight on him
that his ribs do not show, you can clearly see the delineation of his spine
and his hips. This is all in the past week, and is very distressing. He has
purred some but less, but that could be because I syringe fed him one syringe
ful this morning and gave him a pill, and last night we gave him fluids
because he looked dehydrated (skin) and he hated that. His pica, craving odd things
like ash, is increasing. I am broiling him some chicken now in the hopes he
will eat it.
The strangest thing is that it seems like his liver is doing better-- he
really is hardly yellow at all, and when he got chemo last Thursday his values
were down a lot-- but his anemia seems worse and worse-- he is paler than ever,
and it was only 9 or 11 last thursday depending on the read. Since both
are supposedly caused by his lymphoma taking over organs (liver and bone
marrow), I do not really understand how one can improve while the other gets worse.
The oncologist is on vacation until Thursday so I can not ask him.
I really don't know what to think. I have been trying to work today (I work
from home, mostly) because he seems fairly stable, but I can't really
concentrate and get up every 5 minutes to check on him or try to convince him to eat
(and am annoying the hell out of him). I so badly want him to be well and
return to being his old self, which is seeming so far away now even though he
has only been sick less than 2 months. But in reality perhaps this is
greedy, since last week at this time all I asked for was for him to feel better for
a bit and to pass peacefully, when I thought he was on the brink of death.
Please keep praying for him and sending him energy. He needs it.
Thanks for asking, Michelle

Michelle, I do not know anything about them, but I was wondering how our patient is doing today? Cherie
I hope and pray with all my heart that Simon gets better. He is a plucky
little guy. He definitely wants to live or at least he is giving it all he
has to do so. You and he both have my prayers.
