you could try Ferret 0.3.2, it's been the last revision before the 
0.9.x versions and generally has been very stable. 

On the other hand there are people (at least me ;-)) who are using 
Ferret 0.9.x in production environments without problems. It might help
if you could provide more information on when the error occurs, and
what's the exact error.
