The seller's told me that the wooden square nails that hold
something in place, have come loose. Duh. 'square wooden nails'? Now I
want it just for the nails<g>.

I have an antique saxony wheel, ca 1840, that has wooden "pegs" or "nails"
that hold the wheel in place. When I brought it home, I could remove the
pegs and take the wheel off in order to get it in the trunk of my car. This
wheel has a metal rod through the axel of the wheel, this slips into grooves
on the uprights and is held in place by the pegs. Hope this is
understandable. Your great wheel sounds similar.
