I made a ochrolechia dyebath of ammonia and water, let it sit for several
months (stirred it frequently at the beginning then forgot about it for a
month or so) and when I checked it, a beautiful magenta color! Excitedly I
added wool, stirred frequently for a while then forgot about it for a few
weeks. When I checked, the color had changed to brownish reddish yucky.
I've added a little more ammonia, and it's looking much better (more purple)
so maybe it'll be salvageable, but does anyone know why or how this would
happen? It is simply lack of oxygenation, or is there something more
mysterious at play...thanks.
