That's pretty much what I thought, as I was reading the article. I
did find it interesting and it did make me think about the terms. But
the writer, early on, states that thinking of, and trying to spin, to
equal what she thought 'worsted' and 'woolen' should be, put pressure
on her (I'm paraphrasing here. please, folks, don't come back and
correct me. thanks. :) ), so that she didn't enjoy spinning. Once she
stopped using those terms, and stopped spinning to meet the
definition of the two terms, she started to enjoy spinning again.
I didn't get the impression that she was advocating the disuse of the
words. Just that she was not comfortable with them, had found a
number of words (a lot, btw) that she liked instead of woolen and
worsted, and was using those, rather than the older terms.
It's just my opinion, but I think worsted and woolen are much better
at describing a certain way of spinning certain fibers. I don't
understand why 5 or 10 words have to be used to take their place,
when they're such excellent descriptive words.
Rita may not be comfortable using them. That doesn't mean the rest of
us have to stop using them. :)

I don't have time to go over them issue by issue. But nothing
inspires me any more, so much of the designs in both mags seem blah
and technically unsophisticated. <<
<jumping up and down> Me too! Me too! I thought it was just me, and
due to my lack of fiber education. You know--doesn't understand
what's being discussed, so can't get the total effect the article's
trying to get across. The 'new' design sucks and the colors seem more
muted and dulled down. There's new people at the helm. Maybe they
just trying to find their own path. Sure wish they'd hurry and find a
brightly colored one. <g>
