I don't necessarily have asthma, but certain odors trigger asthma like
reactions for me. Simple Green is one thing I can't be in the same building
with even hours after it's use. Ammonia doesn't even affect me that bad, as
long as I don't get a big direct from the bottle whiff of it.
Personally I have found Dawn Free to be good for washing most anything. No
perfumes or anything and cuts grease well. Really greasy fine fleece may
need as many as two or three washings, no matter what is used, to get
everything out. Especially if you are doing fairly large batches in the
washing machine.
