There is a bit of a discussion about pokeberries in "Foxfire 2", if anyone has that. Although it does say that they are toxic, some of the old people interviewed said that was poppycock, and that a remedy used in the old days for bedwetting was to give the poor kid 10 berries to eat....maybe they were just so awful that the kid knew better than making THAT mistake again...:o)
