My shawl is still coming along, almost half done, wish I knew whether I will like it or will be ripping it out again :)
This morning is in the 30s, raining, and windy--much more like early winter than mid fall. Can you believe a week ago it was still in the 80s and I took my daughter swimming? The Shetlands are looking bedraggled from all the rain, but warm. Every year I think of all the warm things I want to make from their wool but haven't had time for or haven't gotten around to. Maybe I can make that Shetland wool tote bag into some sort of hood? <g> I did make a Fair Isle hat from their wool, but my daughter says it's too nice for barn work, it should be saved for 'going out' (which we don't do a lot of in the winter). But I think it will receive its baptism of rain today, as it's much warmer than my old chore hat. I want to drum card some mohair into some Shetland and make boot socks out of it. Maybe Fair Isle for the legs, probably just 'flea stitch' for the foot. Knee socks, I think. Heavier than I usually make--a light sport weight perhaps. For those of you who ever need warm and wooly things in your part of the world, what's your favorite of all such projects you've made? Knit, woven, crochet (I'm longing to make something of granny squares, since they're finally back in fashion--I think a tea cozy :), whatever suits your tastes and fancy.
