I'm getting more sensitive to cold (also to heat--but at least when it's
cold you can add more layers :) and find that my ears yell at me when
they're not covered appropriately.

I've taken to wearing my angora 'headband' under my hat if the windchill
looks like it will be below about 20 F (yes, Ron, I know that's not cold
at all by your standards :) It stays in place pretty well, and keeps my
ears toasty.

It's an easy strip of garter stitch, made just long enough to reach
around your head when slightly stretched, then the ends are sewn or
grafted together. You could do it out of wool, too, though angora is
ideal thanks to its soft, lightweight, non-bulky warmth.

I've seen commercially made ones that are wider at the forehead and ear,
narrower in the back, but I haven't had problems with mine riding up in
back without bothering about shaping it.

glad to have gotten the plow back on the truck yesterday--funny how much
harder it was than the old one, in spite of its 'automatic' hitch
arrangement :)
