I was given some money for Christmas <G> and was wondering what others think of the book Prehistoric Textiles by Elizabeth Barber. I have her Women's Work book, which is good but not as detailed as I always hope for. I was wondering what sorts of textiles are described in PT, and how much detail--anything at all on setts, yarn sizes, weave structures?
Or, does anyone have a really detailed book on preindustrial (handspun, handwoven) textiles from European traditions to suggest? I have the books on the York and London archeological digs. The earlier the better, in general, but I also am fascinated by colonial North American times.
