A super-simple pattern, suitable for beginning knitters, is a garter
stitch headband/earwarmer.  Just cast on about 3 inches worth of
stitches (around 20 usually works with fine fibers) and knit until the
band, stretched, just fits around the head.  Cast off and sew ends
together.  I make these to sell from 1/2 ounce of handspun angora, so
the amount of fiber you're talking about will be more than sufficient :)
