Yes it was a lot of work........I got to look at my stash in quite some detail! Especially for the coloured balls. I worked out many metres some of the balls would need to be and round hanks - busy beavers wound the balls. I also wound many many balls!! over a very weeks.
My sensible off-sider came up with how to keep the balls from sliding down the needles and I just happened to have a million metres of cellophan which the busy beavers worked out big big to cut the squares. Then Bev who made all the centres took it all away and converted the materials into flowers!
I have now put on the website pages - the actual edible cake along with a few other features of the day. But not where the flowers ended up as they were on mantlepiece of mirrors behind which detracted from them - one picture shows someone [moi] headless taking a picture of "flowers" - the cake is not positioned correctly and it's all gone hazy sooooooooo the little rosebuds that were added can't be seen.
What is made me realise in all the saga was I haven't lost my creativity - that it was just lying around dormant - collecting stash/junk/rag for some future spurt. And the "flowers" "vases" leftover are going to get more life soon. Especially that now I can extend my studio space downstairs soooooooo I'm not tripping over projects/looms/sale stuff - the car has gone to wreckers heaven and there is to be no replacement for at least 2yrs or maybe never :-(
