Why use a sock blocker? Inquiring minds want to know :)

Back in the bad old days (before I knew anything about how to choose sock yarns, for one thing), I had knit socks for DH that felted when he wore them. Of course, now I know that was because the yarn was not firmly enough spun nor knitted, but I digress...) I used blockers when I washed the socks in order to stretch them back into a size he could get his feet into <g>.

I no longer use the blockers - probably because I use better yarn - even when I spin it (properly, of course) myself.
