I help with the advertisement at the Heart of America Show in Sedalia, MO. If your group has 501C3 status, Not for Profit, you can get Public Service Announcement on radio and tv stations for free. Check all the local stations for event calendars, they are free. Most have web sites. Contact your local newspaper for a story about the festival. Supply them with pictures unless they come the first day of the show. They usually run the story on the second day. Most also have a events page for the weekend of the show. Have them list your event. Don't just concentrate on fiber folks for participants, you want to encourage the general public with their families too. They often times pick up finished goods for gifts. It's also exposes new folks to our arts.
The fiber arts magazines need to have any ads or events into them by Jan. 1 in order to get in the magazine. Alot of them have web site events too.Find someone local that is a member of AOBA and have them put your event in the Alpaca magazine. These folks are very interested in processing, yarn, and spinning, weaving, etc. You can do 90% of this from your computer.
