Just to clarify, the 'Nathan' I mentioned in my earlier post is Nathan 
Lee. His dad invented the WW and Nathan continues to improve, expand and 
market it. 
I had asked him about the hard treadling and chattering of the wheel 
when plying with some wheels and he is the one who gave me the 
explanation and resolution regarding the brake band.  Try reversing the 
brake band  when you ply - can make a world of difference...
