John-- You can also get Peter Collingwood's book on*Techniques of Rug Weaving* (I think that's the title--you want the big one) He has good info on maintaining warp tension alone. He pulls 1" increments of warp l to r, r to l, and center out and alternates every time the warp beam rotates once.
