Could it be that the yarn was inserted into the web under high tension that 
sprung back when off the loom?
Use of a temple might have saved a little in the width, but had no influence 
on the length.
I do know from experience that "springy" or "elastic" yarns need to be woven 
gently to avoid having them stretched on the loom, only to "zing" back when 
no longer taut.
