Since karakul sheep are raised primarily for the lamb pelts, there is not a lot of "lore" about the fleeces. Spun as shorn they make wonderful rugs. Since it is such a coarse wool, there is not a lot of excitement among the spinners who mainly covet fine and soft. Best advice - sample what you have. Since there are not a lot of these sheep around, there isn't a lot of standards, and many animals labeled "karakul" may be crosses anyway.
