Everyone has a personal way of organizing things on a computer, and I
find it odd that several have posted such incredulous statements about
Andrew's organization.

He has been on this list since way before I came to it, so I know he has
been using a computer for at least that long. So he has obviously
derived a system of organization which works for him.

As for those who find that keeping their data separate from their
applications so they can back up their data files more easily, that is
great, but it is not the only way to approach backups.

Many others keep their data files with their applications so then they
can back up each application separately when they feel the need. I know
of others who keep their data files with the applications AND in a
separate directory/folder AND on a separate hard drive AND on floppy
disks, just so that they won't ever run the risk of losing a data file.

I also don't think that Andrew's data storage is germaine to his issues
with the dead external drive and see no reason for people to be
responding to it, especially in such strong terms.
