I didn't direct the installation there, but that's where it is. I was having a problem with an older version of Finale opening when I double-clicked on an older file. This baffled me at first, because previous upgrades of Finale had trashed the older version. Then I realized that somewhere along the line the latest upgrade had moved into the Applications folder, leaving the older version intact. After moving third party plugins and my custom libraries into the new Finale folder, I just trashed the old version, and now clicking on old files opens up Fin 2002b. I had the same thing happen with Toast 5.1x. The upgrade got moved into the Applications folder. I trashed the old version, thinking that the new version had everything in it that I needed. Then later I wanted to use CD Spin Doctor, which is supposed to reside in the "Roxio Music" folder inside the new Toast folder. When I opened this folder, it was empty, except for a read me file, with the title "Where have all my files gone?" This file said that my old files did not get moved into the new Toast folder, and that I had to move them there myself, which was impossible, since I'd already trashed the old Toast folder. Which meant that I had to reinstall the older version and go through the upgrade process all over again. This happened due to a change in the behavior of the installer from one version of the same program to the next, and pilot error, since I didn't bother to read the documentation thoroughly before installing the upgrade. FWIW, I, like Peter, keep my files on a separate drive from my applications. I worked on an orchestration project earlier this year, in which one of the other orchestrators lost all of his Finale files when upgrading Finale, because he had his files in the same folder as the application. The composer had to pay me to reproduce one of the missing files from a hard copy in order to make the changes that were needed. BTW, there were 5 orchestrators involved in this project, and the composer and 3 of the orchestrators were using Sibelius. The two guys using Finale were the oldest members of the group: myself and the composer's father. Coincidence? ;-) Best to all, Lon ************************ Lon Price, Los Angeles <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> <http://members.aol.com/txstnr/> _______________________________________________ Finale mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://mail.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
