I've heard of MIDI running only over the USB port.  Interfaces can be cheap
to expensive.  I use a cheap basic one from Roland that has not given me any
problems.

No experience here, but this sounds very fishy.  A hub or, maybe better, a
router should do the trick -- but I should emphasize "should."  I hear that
DSL is a pretty complicated and finicky thing.  Maybe someone else could
help with this giving more than educated guesses.
