I agree that this is missing, however, there is a trick to achieve the same (though it involves more steps): In the articulation dialog duplicate the artic you want to erase from the score. Use "Change articulation" to change the existing ones to the duplicate. In the articulation dialog, erase that duplicate, without giving a substitute.
