Depending on which saxes you use, they are a possibility (I would 
suggest using soprano sax for the 1st violin part, if you are going to 
use saxes.)

Other possibilities, depending on the scoring of the original, would be 
to create separate clarinet parts for the violins and violas.  So you 
can have the original Clarinet 1 and 2 (or whatever) and then add 
Clarinet 3, 4, for the violins and have a Clarinet 5 to cover the viola, 
or use Alto clarinet to cover the viola and bass clarinet to cover the 
cello.
