Hi!Page layout issues are handled usually after the note entry is completed. Once you are ready to deal with page layout issues, you simply use the mass-mover tool (the train-engine icon) and highlight the entire score, the hit ctrl-M and make sure that the entry to place 4 bars in each system is checked and the number 4 is showing and click OK.
I'm a bit new to Finale but have some questions. I'm trying to do a default page that I could use over and over. It would have six lines of staffs, each four bars. The things i don't get right is.
1: How can I make every bars all the same sizes. I would like four evenly spaced bars, sure I can go in page layout and change but it must be a easier way. Also when I'm stepping in notes the bar size changes so then I have to change it again.
Now you will have 4 evenly spaced bars on each line.
2: All eight notes seems to be four and four together default and it seems that I can change them in Mass edit and rebeam to time signature to get them two and two but how will I make that default?Options menu, Document Settings, Beaming, UNcheck Beam 4 8th notes together in common time. In order to do this as your program default, you will need to select this in a new, empty document which you can then save as Maestro Font Default.ftm (or you can name it differently so as not to overwrite the original file and then change your basic default template file in Options/Program Options to whatever you named your newly saved file.
I would suggest not trying to make this the default, but for each line where you want all stems up, simply highlight it with Mass-mover tool after note entry is complete, then under Mass Edit menu, Utilities select Freeze Stems UP.3: How would I make all stems up default?
4: Is there a possibility to use my keybord (not the piano keyboard) and tell Finale ex: numerical pad 7 would be a drum based hi hat, jazz font, eight note and laying at "G". The numerical pad 8 would be snare drum, quarter note, a jazz font and laying at "C" and so on?
No.
For know I have to klick in every note, tell finale all stems up, rebeam to time signature, going to special tools, chosing note shape tool, mark the notes and then find the hi hat symbol.
I would like to speed it up and see if there is a faster way of working.
Sorry for all questions and hope someones has some ide'as.
Best.
Mike.
