OK, I have found a trick that works well: I activate Automatic Update
Layout. I simply switch from within Speedy (with the cursor frame in an
active state) directly to another tool (i.e. Clef Tool), then switch
directly back to Speedy. This takes one second. I do have to go back to the
mouse to select a frame to work on again, but the Update Layout function
works like lightning: probably only on that page. I am imagining Finale is
circumventing a longer subroutine which would normally go through the entire
file from the current page to the end.

And it didn't cost me anything. :-)
