As a matter of fact, this has already been the case with 2k3. There is a
work-around, though: In the Expressions menu select "favor Note Expression"
instead of "automatic". That should behave exactly as you want it.
No, I think what we have here is a bug. After installing F2004, it won't recognize any expression selections as note-attached until you set the radio button in the Expression palette to note-attached one time. After that, it all works correctly, automatically setting the radio button to match the cursor icon state. It isn't a question of "favoring" note-attachment. You don't get note-attachment AT ALL until you set that radio button manually one time.
Now that I know the workaround, I have no problem, but this bug needs to be fixed because other users will have the same problem and get frustrated. I'm certain that MM will fix it promptly. As a software developer myself, I am amazed at how many bugs users will live with without reporting them. Most bugs are easy to fix if somebody will take the time to tell the developer, rather than assume the developer already knows about the bug and is just leaving it there to aggravate the users.
In the process of trying to sort this out, I forced myself to learn how to use metatools and libraries more effectively, so I am ending us way ahead of the game.
All the best, Craig
