Now ain't there a difference between an alternate pronunciation consistently
used by millions of people in a particular
quite large geographic region, as I think I tried to point out in the
verbiage before what you clipped, on the one hand, and how you on your
lonesome pronounce a word, on the other?  I surely thought that was the
general gist of things.

However, I also say TROMbone sometimes, even though I play one, and also
every now and then, UMbrella, both of which induce spousal laughter.  Maybe
millions DO say TROMbone, and we should call your daughter on that one.  But
in any case, she should continue to laugh at "robutt" without a doubt.
