I use page reduction, but I now typically use a fixed size for my lyrics.
Thus, they don't reduce at all. I assume you can use a fixed size lyrics
with system reduction, too.

The reason I switched to fixed size lyrics was not because of page
reduction at all, but because I sometimes need to attach lyrics to a
cadenza with reduced notes. Reducing the notes reduces the lyric as well,
which is an undesired result.

Switching to fixed size lyrics made that problem go away, but it created a
new problem. Before I switched, my lyric size for my main template was 14pt
reduced 75% for an effective size of 10.5 pt on the page. When I switched
to fixed size, I was dismayed to learn that fractional type sizes are not
an option. I tried 10pt (which is what I mostly use now) and I tried 11pt,
but I really did like 10.5 pt better than either of them, and I wish it
were available.

As for the general question of page reduction vs system reduction, my
understanding is that the main advantage of the latter is for files when
you want a different % reduction for different pages. Since I never do
that, there's no advantage in it for me.
