You've DONE such multiple reductions??Well, no. I did a score and set of parts (instruments, vocal soloists, choral and conductors scores) for Handel's Chandos Anthem X, and explored the situation at that time, learning how the sytem worked. Once I learned how the situation worked, I was able to plan the score in advance so as to not have to do the multiple reductions.
Generally speaking, my method of working on a work is to get all the notes and lyric in, and proofed, then decide how I want the score to look: what size staff do I need for each part, and what size do I want the lyrics to appear in the final product. I almost always work from a page size of 100%, and use the capability to resize the system, so it's normally a matter of one division: divide the desired point size by the system redution. I have used, in addition to system reduction, the staff "reduction". The composer wanted an alternate soprano part, and I reduced the staff, and enlarged the lyrics in that staff because they were too small to be read at the staff reduction that was most useful. For what it's worth, I think note reduction (select resize tool, and click on note stem, or where it would be) also affects the size of the attached lyric, though "notehead" reduction does not.
