Thanks for responding so quickly.

I have replaced the printer cable, tried the printer on another computer system (worked fine), reformatted the hard drive and did a clean install of Win98se, tried different printer drivers, etc.  I have not yet tried b) below, and will try to see if that solves the problem.

No. 64 MB RAM is plenty. It also has hardly anything to do with printing.

I would:
a) replace printer cable
b) set LPT port to standard rather than
   EPP or whatever (a BIOS setting)
c) try a different printer driver.

No, there is no relation. And I doubt that Finale 2004 actually does require 128
MB, especially when it's not running ;=))
