Thanks for your reply. I have the port. marked as I want it played, i.e. 2-2 on the G string (B - D#) second finger resolving the leading tone up to E with the third finger in Third position. Most any violinist will produce the sound I want. The problem is with the playback. You would NEVER want what is currently happening! It sounds like a pitch bend wheel on a keyboard -- slow, languorous and very wrong !
I regularly make rehearsal CDs of my arrangements to give to players. Since I work quite a lot with volunteers and talented amateurs, I find it helpful if I can give them a reference recording. At this point I certainly don't want this playback going out! I just want a regular "shift with the same finger" not this slow slide up a major third. It is what I call a "scoopee di voce" in choir! Horrible effect!
