I personally would not go this route. Get the G5, if you want to avoid
Finale 2k4 for now, run 2k3 in Classic.
I also think that 2k4b is usable in OS X. I have a relatively slow machine,
but I would not want to go back to 2k3. I would not want to give up some of
the new features, especially expressions. Plus Finale is in my experience
more stable in OS X than it ever was in OS 9.

So unless you have other reasons for keeping an OS 9 bootable system, go for
the fastest machine you can afford. I envy you.
