I sense that what you want is a kind of "grand staff" for the bass player, in which the upper staff contains the trumpet part, to be used as cues by bassist. One way of doing this is to select "extract parts" from the file menu, which opens a dialog box in which you can select the staves to be extracted into a particular part. To extract a part containing two staves, simply extract a part in which only those two staves are highlighted in the "staves" section of the dialog box.
No, I'm sorry, but what you just described will only extract THOSE two staves in two separate files, not both staves in one file.
You can also define the two staves you want as a group, and highlight the group in the "groups" section of the dialog box. This will give you one part, consisting of two staves, one the trumpet part, one the bass part.
This will work, but the staves HAVE to be adjacent in the score. In other words, you can't make a group consisting of two staves with another staff in between that is NOT in the group.
Alternatively, you can make a copy of the file, and delete all but the trumpet and bass staff,
This is good, too. Also, the method of Special Part Extraction that I outlined in another message. Wow, I can't get enough of it now!
