Hi Brad,
I was wrong. It didn't work. I thought I remembered this working, but obviously I was mistaken.
FWIW, my idea was to program a Staff Set (*not* Staff List, sorry) including the two nonadjacent staves. Then, while viewing that Staff Set, select the staves and create a group. Then extract that group.
It doesn't work, though -- the extracted part contains all staves between the two nonadjacent staves.
The proper solution is special part extraction, or just deleting the other staves.

This will work, but the staves HAVE to be adjacent in the score. In other words, you can't make a group consisting of two staves with another staff in between that is NOT in the group.
You can using Staff Lists.
Darcy, can you explain? I have no idea how you'd be able to do this.
