I would agree with Andrew. However, if it is at all practical, I would consider making a separate engraving for the choristers, with the oboe/cello shown only as possible cue entries on the piano part (or a separate line).
Of course, this also depends on how critical the oboe and cello are to the piece, and, more importantly, who the target performers are. (Not to say that I personally don't think that the oboe or cello part would be critical all the time, having played oboe in a previous life ... :-) But depending on the type of work, and who you think will be performing it, quite often a somewhat reduced score would be helpful not only for the choir but also during rehearsals. Amateurs tend to get more confused when there are more staves, as they get "locked in" to thinking that Tenor is always three staves down. (Not good, but it happens.) Also, I assume you'd be making a separate sheet for the oboe and the cello to perform from that just contains their part. (Helps with the page turn issues for players who need both hands in order to perform.) ----- Original Message ----- From: Andrew Stiller <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Wednesday, June 30, 2004 5:43 am Subject: Re: [Finale] Choral work setup > >I would like to get some advise from people who are used to > engrave > >choral works. > > > >The instruments are as follow : > > > >Soprano solist > >Alto solist > >Tenor solist > >Baritone solist > >Choir (Sop1, Sop2) > >Choir (Alto) > >Oboe > >Cello > >Piano accompaniement > > > >In which order would you set them up in the score ? > > > >Thanks, > > > >ric > > > > > > ob, vc, soloists, chorus, piano.
