In response to Darcy's description of his problems with crashes and others who have not experienced this: it has happened to me on occasion, though not since I installed 2004c and got rid of the copy of 2004 that I used to keep for printing. (There was a printing problem for me in 2004b that required this workaround.)
Perhaps there was a conflict arising from keeping two copies of the "same" application. I don't know. I am not experienced enough in the workings of the operating system to be able to track down this kind of problem, but I was having it, and yes, auto-save exacerbated it.
I also keep two copies of Finale - 2002 and 2003 on my OS9 partition, and 2004 on my OSX partition. I haven't used 2004 enough to see either the text-block bug or thte file-overwrite bug, but I have seen the file overwrite bug in 2003, BEFORE 2004 was installed, but WHILE 2002 was still on the machine.
