I am about to install FinMac 2004 on an I Mac I have been given. The I Mac
has both OS 9 and OS 10.3 on the hard drive. I've heard that the
application runs rather slowly on OS X....would it be better to run it on
OS 9? Pros and cons...?

Dear Dean,

Finale 2004 runs slower in System 10.3 than Finale 2003 in System 9, but if you install Finale 2004 to run on System 9 you will run into stability problems. The latest upgrade, Finale 2004c is pretty stable for most of us Mac users. I suggest you install it in System 10.3, especially if your iMac's speed is 800MHz or better.

If speed is crucial for you (you will be creating large scores - many pages, many staves), it might be worthwhile for you to look into getting Finale 2003.

Good luck.
