Waveburner has a much better user interface, can do real processing, allows working in 24 Bit and leaving dithering to the final step before burning (where it belongs), can do graphic 4-point editing, fades, crossfades etc. JAM can burn Audio CDs, including subcodes (which is more than most) but otherwise doesn't really do anything. I agree that it is the only alternative for the burning portion of Waveburner.
