Now I am working on a huge project and there are several of us on the team prearing the music for "The Ten Comandments", the rock musical opening at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood next month. I did all my initial entry in 2003 on OS9 and all was fine. Now I am working on files created in 2004. I have tried Finale 2004B & C on OS9 and OSX and it is soooooooooooooooooo slow. Sometimes a file will be ok and then all of a sudden slows down. Restarting my Mac doesn't help. It seemed to start on the largest (358 bars long) piece which is only 200kb. But now even small files, when they slow down, are extremely slow. Most times I change a tool, it is at least 20 sec, clicking on a measure, dragging bars in mass mover, everything takes quite a while. Some things just moving from bar to bar with the bracket or return keys, maybe 5 to 6 sec, other things 20-30sec. Note spacing 3 bars took 20 sec.
I think some of these things are from OSX itself. In any app, I click on bars and they won't highlight, file last modified dates still say "today" instead of "yesterday" until I open a file. When I click on a page, it often jumps 2 pages in all apps. I have only taken a peek at OSX in the past but since Friday have been working on it exclusively and it leaves a lot to be desired. Seems a lot of bugs. Are you folks on OSX also experiencing problems in Finale and OSX itself? By the way, I am on a 1ghz dual processor Mac with 1.5gb of ram with OS9.2.2 and OS10.3. I wanted to try and add more memory to Finale 2004 in OSX and was told that you that you can't alter the amount of memory for apps in OSX. It takes a while get used to the desktop in OSX. I know it's way past due to get rid of AOL, which now most of the time will not sign.
Any suggestions??? This is so frustrating and time consuming!!!
thanks, Bonnie
