Hello,
This is a second go-around for this question. I do hope someone can help with this.
Are there any Garratin Personal Orchestra users out there who have also used Reason? Or who have compared GPO with Reason? If so, can you say, briefly, if and why one is better than the other?
Thank you.
David Froom
I don't think Reason is sample-based, the way GPO is.
My tinkering around with the Reason demo about a year or so ago seemed to show that Reason is really a synthesizer, i.e. start with a simple wave form and process it through various things to get the sound.
GPO starts with samples.
They serve different purposes in the soft-synth world.
I would think that for Finale users GPO would be better if you are looking for realistic playback of scores involving acoustic instruments.
Reason would be better for you to design your own sounds for works that involve electronic sounds.
But maybe I didn't understand Reason fully.
Since nobody had really answered your question, though, I thought I would add my .0002-cents' worth.
