Can't do, since drum part also contains down stem stuff. As Christopher
suggested, I could use a dedicated layer for kick-over-time, but 4 layers
is not enough when it comes to drum part.

Slash notation/rhythmic notation Layer 3.... kicks over time, snare, H.H., crash, ride, toms layer one (stems up)....bass drum layer two (stems down)....

This should cover everything you are trying to do based on the way I suspect you are trying to put your drum parts together.

I change the noteheads with the special tools palette rather than use a staff style to do what you are trying to do to avoid conflicting staff styles (for instance, you can't use slash notation in layer three as a staff style and then try to apply a drum map in layer one without having conflicting staff styles).....think creating "chords" with different noteheads on different lines. (I'm referring to the stuff in layer one specifically here..i.e. kicks over time, snare, H.H., crash, ride, toms) I do the same for the slash notation/rhythmic notation (changing noteheads) in layer three but an argument can be made based on personal preference for using a staff styles here instead which is applied to layer three (define staff styles>choose slash and/or rhythmic notation from the drop down menu>click on alternate notation>assign to layer three)

Thanks.
