I agree with your desire not to open the case often, however, in that the less frequently you crack it open, the less likely you are to damage something else.

Eh, if you know what you are doing, you should never damage anything......


And in something like the Mac Mini, I, too, would go with what Apple uses, since not all RAM is created equal and MBTF notwithstanding, some RAM gives off more heat than others and in such a tiny case that would be a crucial consideration I would think.

I've never heard this before. I believe if you took 2 chips from two different companies, both say PC2700, they would give off the same heat. What, does one company have some secret they use in there chip? If I'm going to crack open something, I'm going to go with something cheap. I'm saving the $80 and using it towards having Blue Tooth and Wireless networking installed (as those are two things people are not sure if Apple is going to make available for user upgrades).


I'll let you know when I get the guy sometime around the 22nd...........
