For my purposes, I've had pretty good success with Finale's internal sounds. I've come across a problem that I don't see any obvious way around and wonder if any of you might be able to help.
On the piece I'm currently working on, the default balance between the internal sounds for acoustic guitar and string section is out of whack. Is there any way to adjust this balance (in this case, turn the guitar volume down)? Finmac 2005a / Power Mac G5 1.6 GHz / 1.25 gigs of ram.
Enter a dynamic for the guitar that sets the volume lower than the strings.
Now that we can add descriptive labels to expressions it is easier to maintain two (or more) different sets of dynamics so that all the dynamics for a louder patch can be set to a lower volume than the same dynamics that would be used for a quieter patch.
The other way is to get a soundfont editor and change the entire guitar patch to more nearly echo the string section patch in volume. The expressions are a lot easier than editing an entire soundfont.
