Thanks, David.  

Could you elaborate on the descriptive labels?  I'm putting a hidden "G" in
the tweaked expressions to tell the difference.  Is that what you had in
mind, or does Finale have some capability I'm not aware of.  I didn't find
anything else easily in the manual.

Although I've never used one, I gather from your description I was thinking
in my original post along the lines of what a soundfont editor would do.

So, Finale can't do this.  Is it too much to ask (of Finale)?

In the mean time, can anyone point me in the direction of a soundfont editor
that will edit Finale's sounds on the Mac?
